Transcripts:
Provide official transcripts (transcripts
in a sealed envelope) of your previous education. Unofficial
transcripts (transcripts which have been opened or faxed)
are not acceptable.

High school transcripts must be complete, showing the date
of graduation. |

Home school graduates should send a final
transcript as well as a copy of the letter/card from the NC
Department of Non-Public Instruction which acknowledges your
home school. |

Correspondence/online high school diplomas will be
accepted if they are accredited by the Distance
Education and Training Council (DETC) or are regionally
accredited. Any other correspondence/online high school diplomas will be
reviewed on a case-by-case basis. |

Testing:
Schedule an appointment to take the COMPASS placement
test and the COMPUTER SKILLS assessment. If you are taking an internet-based
course, you may also be required to take the TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY
EXAM. |

If you have completed transferable college-level
coursework in English, math, and computer applications you
may be exempt from testing. Your official college transcript
from the awarding college must be evaluated in order to determine
any exemption. |

If you have a SAT score of 500-Critical
Reading, 500-Writing, and 500-Math or an ACT score of 21-Reading,
21-Writing, and 21-Math, you are exempt from COMPASS testing.
Your official scores must be received from the testing agency
to determine any exemption. |

If you have received a bachelor’s
degree from an accredited college or university within the
last 10 years, you are exempt from testing. Your official college
transcript showing the degree awarded must be received to determine
any exemption. |

The COMPUTER SKILLS ASSESSMENT is a prerequisite
to CIS 110. |
|

 |
The Technical Proficiency Exam is required
for Internet-based courses unless you have completed one of
the following courses with a grade of “C” or higher:
CIS 110, CIS 111, CIS 147, CIS 172, EGR 125, EDU 271, WEB 110
or equivalent. Other may apply. |
