Law Enforcement
General Instructor:

Prior to becoming a probationary instructor, applicants must first meet the following education experience requirements.  NCAC 09B.0300:

  • A minimum of a high-school diploma and four (4) years practical experience as a Criminal Justice Officer.
Note:
Practical experience must be as a Criminal Justice officer or as an administrator or specialist in a field directly related to the Criminal Justice System.

It is your responsibility to make sure you meet these qualifications!

Course Requirements:

Attendance is required in all classes. This course will teach you the necessary skills required to research, plan, prepare, present, and evaluate a block of instruction in accordance with Instructional Systems Development approach.  You will be required to: Develop a lesson plan for an 80 minute block of instruction; Construct a test appropriate to the 80 minute block of instruction; and Teach an 80 minute block of instruction.

The length of this class is 10 days (83 hours). The class enrollment will be limited to 18 students. Students must score at least 75% on the commission- administered state examination required for certification. 

Prior to enrolling, students should make the necessary arrangements with their employer in order to devote the appropriate amount of time and attention required of this course. You should plan on spending numerous hours outside of class studying, researching, preparing lesson plans, creating audiovisual aids and practicing your presentation. All instructional topics must be approved by the course coordinator or school director.

Please be on time and bring a pen and paper for taking notes in class. We look forward to your participation in this course and hope you find it fun and rewarding.
