ENG 080 - Writing Foundations
This course introduces the writing process and stresses effective sentences. Emphasis is
placed on applying the conventions of written English, reflecting standard usage and
mechanics in structuring a variety of sentences. Upon completion, students should be
able to write correct sentences and a unified, coherent paragraph. This course does not
satisfy the developmental reading and writing prerequisite for ENG 111 or ENG 111A.
This course is designed to prepare students for college level work and will not satisfy
credit hours for any degree, diploma or certificate program. This course will not transfer
to a four-year institution but will transfer to any of the community colleges within the N.C.
Community College System; however, it will not satisfy any degree, diploma or certificate
requirements at the receiving institution. Credit earned for this course will only

paragraphs. This course integrates ENG 080 and RED 080. This course does not satisfy
the developmental reading and writing prerequisites for ENG 111 or ENG 111A. This
