Course Requirements for Internet-based Courses

General Information:
Internet students study textbooks and complete and submit assignments online, following the Internet course outline. Guidance and instructional support are provided through regular course participation and email contact with instructors.  Internet classes have no scheduled sessions on campus although instructors reserve the right to require test-taking in the on-campus testing centers. Internet courses are designed to give students maximum flexibility; however, students are expected to meet course, assignment, and testing deadlines, which provide a framework to promote student progress, and to maintain active participation in the course.
Hybrid courses combine online learning with face-to-face instruction.  There are required, on-campus meetings.  All students registered in a Hybrid course MUST complete an orientation session each semester/term.
Students must meet specific academic and skill prerequisites prior to registering for an Internet/Hybrid course. Such prerequisites determine student preparedness and support student potential for success in an Internet/Hybrid course.  Student preparedness includes demonstrated reading, written communication, and technical skills. All Internet/Hybrid courses, regardless of the curriculum, are reading intensive and writing intensive (per word processing or email means), and require participants to use a wide variety of computer and internet technology.
For more information about prerequisites for Internet courses, students may contact Student Services or refer to the college’s Distance Education Handbook
