Say hello to Pronto! Pronto is a free instant messaging and voice chat tool (voice over IP) that allows students and/or faculty to meet live online at any time to discuss their coursework. Pronto allows for one on one communication, or group communication (100+ users can text and/ or voice chat together in the same session). What makes Pronto different than other IM tools is that Pronto works with our Blackboard system to automatically populate contact lists for us all with current classmates’ names or contact lists for Blackboard supported courses we are a part of (so students and faculty do not have to “add” each other to contact lists).

Ideas for using Pronto

• Office Hours
• Study groups, group project communications and Q&A sessions
• If you are a member of a committee or organization that is using Blackboard, you can utilize Pronto with others in that group
• Quick, informal brainstorming with peers
• Voice chat can be one on one or utilized as a “conference call” (one on one or in groups)
• If you know others outside of our college that have a Pronto account, you can add them to your contact list and collaborate using Pronto
