bullet What types of Financial Aid are available?
Financial Aid is available in the form of scholarships, grants, and work-study programs.
bullet How do students apply?
Students may apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov or by mailing in the application.  Applications for grants and scholarships are available in the Student Services offices on both campuses.  If students need assistance, they can contact Student Services.

The Title IV code for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is 005754.
bullet When do students apply?
Apply every academic year and apply as early as possible.  The ideal time is in February prior to the Fall semester (after income taxes are filed).  Allow up to two months prior to the students' actual enrollment date in order to have monies available.
bullet Who do students contact?
Financial Aid counselors are available Monday through Friday in Student Services at 704-637-0760, ext. 221 or 704-788-3197, ext. 510.
bullet What is necessary to apply?
Students must have obtained their High School Diploma, GED, or Adult High School Equivalent.  Students should request an official copy of their transcript.  Students will also be required to provide Federal Tax returns.
bullet Does Financial Aid have to be paid back?
No, it is a grant, not a loan.
bullet Do students have to be full-time in order to receive Financial Aid?
In most cases, no.  Students need to discuss this particular situation with a financial aid counselor.
bullet If students drop classes, do they have to pay the money back?
If students register for class and never attend, they will owe the money back.  They must contact the Financial Aid Office, because there are a variety of issues involved.
bullet
If students drop or add a class during the Drop/Add period, is their Pell Grant adjusted?
If students reduce their credit hours and change their enrollment status, this may result in a reduction in the award amount.  Students may then be required to reimburse the college for a portion of their award, which will then be forwarded back to the federal government.  If students increase their credit hours, the award amounts may be increased.  In this case, students will receive a check for the additional amount of the award.
bullet
If students receive financial assistance, are they penalized if they choose not to register for a semester?
No.
bullet Is Financial Aid available in the summer?
If students are Full-Time in both Fall and Spring, the answer is NO.  Otherwise, students should speak to a financial aid counselor about their particular award.
bullet How do students pay tuition and college fees?
For their convenience, tuition and fees are charged to their financial aid account at the time of registration.
bullet What is the deferred payment plan?
This plan enables students to pay tuition and fees on an installment basis.  Students must have a personal checking account or written authorization from the person authorizing RCCC to draft tuition/fee installments.  Up to three checks are needed at the time of registration -- one for the initial payment and the rest are voided and used for further drafts.
