| RCCC Adjusts ‘BioWork’ Class Schedule | ||||||
SALISBURY, N.C. — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) has made a schedule change for its upcoming “BioWork” course. The class begins Aug. 27 and meets until Jan. 16, 2008, on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 8 a.m. until noon. The class was originally scheduled to start Aug. 6. RCCC encourages interested adults to contact the college to register as soon as possible and schedule a career readiness assessment. Both are required to take the BioWork course. BioWork is a 140-hour introductory course bringing together the basics of manufacturing technology and the fundamentals of science. BioWork gives students a broad overview of the biotechnology industry and prepares them for entry-level bio-manufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing jobs. The BioWork course includes the following topics or modules:
Students must have a high school diploma or GED, basic computer literacy and go through a career readiness assessment. RCCC will offer the BioWork course at its Cabarrus Business & Technology Center, 660 Concord Parkway North in Concord.
