||||||
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) invites the public to an open house at its Cloverleaf Cosmetology Center in Kannapolis, Aug. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event will celebrate the opening of a new teaching facility and just-completed renovations to the center’s existing space. Located in the Cloverleaf Shopping Plaza, the RCCC Cosmetology Center has a new 5,000-square-foot facility for its nail and esthetics programs. The new space will give adult and high school students a state-of-the-art training facility for providing salon- and spa-quality services. The renovated cosmetology training center now offers students 68 styling stations, five classrooms and an added learning resource center or library. “We are excited for the community and our clients to see our new and newly renovated facilities,” said Kathy Nash, RCCC cosmetology department head. “We are now able to offer our students a greatly enhanced learning environment and an improved spa and salon setting for our clients. “The open house also is an opportunity to thank our many local partners and supporters. We hope lots of people will come out and help us celebrate,” Nash added. RCCC’s cosmetology program, including cosmetology, nails and esthetics, is the largest in North Carolina, serving approximately 300 adult and high school students. RCCC’s cosmetology students participate in a number of community service efforts, including the American Cancer Society’s Feel Good Look Good program, the Susan B. Koman Breast Cancer Society, and American Red Cross blood drives. The Aug. 20 open house is a drop-in event. The RCCC Cosmetology Center offers shampoos, haircuts, color treatments and styling; European, microdermabrasion and chemical peel facials; manicures and pedicures; body waxing; and other services.
