SALISBURY,
N.C. — The North Carolina Real Estate Commission has recognized
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College for its students’ success taking
the state real estate license examination.
In a letter,
Lisa McQuillen, N.C. Real Estate Commission licensing and education officer,
commended RCCC for its students achieving a first-time exam pass rate of 80 percent
or higher between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2007.
“Of
66 schools with six or more students tested, your school [RCCC] was one of only
10 schools to reach this level of performance,” McQuillen wrote. “The
overall performance for all first-time examination candidates was 67 percent.
“We
recognize that to have your students perform at such a level on the license examination
requires a combination of high quality instruction and high course completion
standards,” McQuillen added.
RCCC offers
a certificate program in real estate licensing. The program provides licensing
education required by the N.C. Real Estate Commission for students preparing
to take the real estate license examination and for provisional brokers seeking
removal of the provisional status.
Course work
includes the practices and principles of real estate; broker relationships as
they apply to customers, sellers and buyers; contract procedures; fair housing
and real estate methodology. Course work also includes professional development
opportunities.
Graduates who
pass the real estate license examination and obtain a real estate provisional
broker license should be able to provide basic, residential real estate services
as a broker affiliated with a real estate firm.
