RCCC Board Thanks College Benefactor

SALISBURY, N.C. — The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Board of Trustees expressed its appreciation today for a significant contribution to the college.

During its September meeting, the board recognized the Blanche and Julian Robertson Family Foundation for its grant of $37,500.

RCCC has used the Robertson Family Foundation grant to purchase a SimMan patient simulator for its nursing programs. A SimMan is a portable and technically advanced patient simulator that provides realistic anatomy and clinical functionality. The SimMan is giving students cutting-edge, simulation-based experience to challenge and test their clinical and decision-making skills in realistic patient care scenarios. The simulator includes advanced software and interactive technology, allowing nursing students to practice all aspects of patient care.

The RCCC board also recognized a number of 2007-08 academic scholarship recipients. Eight full-time students have received scholarships of $1,000, and eight part-time students have earned $500 scholarships.
