to Board of State Counselors Association |
||||||
SALISBURY, N.C. — Troy Schiedenhelm, a psychology instructor at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina (LPCANC). Schiedenhelm’s appointment starts Jan. 1. He will serve as chair of university relations. The LPCANC serves licensed professional counselors through advocacy, marketing and professional development and by responding to the needs of the mental health profession and the community at large. LPCANC defines professional counseling as assisting individuals, groups and families through a combination of clinical mental health and human development principles, methods, diagnostic procedures, treatments plans and other psychotherapeutic techniques. Through its university and college relations program, LPCANC works to develop active relationships with the counselor education graduate programs in North Carolina. The goal is to assist graduate students and recent graduates in the process of becoming licensed professional counselors and in their search for employment. Schiedenhelm’s appointment will put him in frequent and direct contact with administrators, faculty members and students from colleges and universities across North Carolina. Schiedenhelm holds a bachelor’s degree from Point Park College, a master’s degree from West Chester University, and a doctorate in counseling psychology from Argosy University-Sarasota. He joined the RCCC faculty in 2005. |
