| RCCC Art Exhibition Opens Nov. 9 | ||||||
SALISBURY, N.C. — The public is invited to view the artwork of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College students at the 2007 RCCC Invitational Exhibition, Nov. 9 through Dec. 14. Hosted and supported by the Rowan Arts Council, pieces in the Invitational Exhibition will be on display at the council’s gallery, 506 South Salisbury Ave., in Spencer. An opening reception will take place Nov. 9 from 6-8 p.m. The public is invited free of charge. Normal gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday-Friday. In its second year, this partnership of the Arts Council and RCCC encourages students to exhibit their work in a professional setting. The artwork is as diverse as the students themselves, ranging from paintings to drawings to sculpture to new media. RCCC art instructors Jonathan Church and Jenn Gardner encourage all interested students to apply to the call for entries. This year, more than 20 students will display work – double the number of the 2006 exhibition. Juror Joshua Cross will select first-, second- and third-place winners and three honorable mentions. Students will receive their awards during the opening reception. Throughout the exhibition, viewers can vote for the People’s Choice Award, which will be announced at the close of the show. RCCC offers a wide range of arts courses, including drawing, painting, watercolor, photography, digital photography, design, art appreciation, and a survey of American art. For more information and course descriptions, see the RCCC website – www.rowancabarrus.edu. |
