RCCC Board Hosts Community Forums
Local Residents Asked to Share Thoughts on Presidential Search

SALISBURY, N.C. — The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Board of Trustees will host two community forums to talk with local residents about the ongoing search for the college’s next president.

“The board wants to hear the thoughts and opinions of Rowan and Cabarrus County citizens concerning the characteristics and skills they would like to see in the next RCCC president,” said Pat Fulcher, RCCC board member and chair of the presidential search committee.

The board will hold two forums on Nov. 19:

bullet 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. – RCCC South Campus Student Center, Building 3000 – 1531Trinity Church Rd., just off I-85 at exit 55, in Concord; and

bullet 4-5:15 p.m. – RCCC North Campus Building 200, Room 251 – I-85 and Jake Alexander Blvd., in Salisbury.

Earlier this year, RCCC President Richard Brownell announced his plans to retire in June 2008. Brownell has led the college as its president for 30 years.

Since Brownell’s announcement, the RCCC board has named a presidential search committee and selected National Search and Education Associates of Cary, N.C., to assist in the search process. National Search and Education Associates has recently worked on presidential searches for Randolph Community College in Asheboro, N.C.; Brunswick Community College in Supply, N.C.; Halifax Community College in Weldon, N.C.; Roanoke-Chowan Community College in Ahoskie, N.C.; Elgin Community College in Elgin, Ill.; Parkland College in Champaign, Ill.; and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System based in Lexington.

In addition to the community forums, the board will host two forums for RCCC faculty and staff members, also on Nov. 19.
