RCCC Announces Presidential Search Finalists |

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Rowan-Cabarrus Community College's Board of Trustees has announced the finalists in its search for RCCC's next president. Each of the finalists will come to RCCC between April 23-30 for interviews with the board, campus tours and meet-and-greet sessions with faculty and staff members. After reference checking and one candidate removing himself from the search process, there are five finalists for the job of RCCC president. A brief bio on each follows. C. Leary Bell Bell holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics education from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. He earned a master's degree and a Ph.D. in mathematics from Auburn University. Catherine Chew Chew holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. She earned a master's degree in student personnel, and a doctorate in career education from Virginia Tech University. Henry "Hank" Dunn Dunn holds an associate arts degree in general studies from Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce, Fla. He holds a bachelor's degree in history and education from the University of Florida, and a master's degree in guidance and counseling from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. He earned a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Florida. Carol Spalding Spalding holds a bachelor's degree in international studies from the University of Louisville in Ky., and a master's degree in human resource management from Pepperdine University in Santa Ana, Calif. She earned a doctorate in education from Columbia University in New York. Kerry Youngblood Youngblood holds a bachelor's degree in education and physiology from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He earned a master's degree in education administration and a Ph.D. in community college leadership from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. In April 2007, RCCC President Richard Brownell announced his plans to retire in June 2008. Brownell has led the college as president for more than 30 years. The RCCC board is working with National Search and Education Associates of Cary, N.C., as a search consultant. |
