RCCC Board of Trustees
Will Hold Called Meeting June 9

             SALISBURY, N.C.— The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Board of Trustees will hold a called meeting June 9 at 4 p.m., in the North Campus Board Room, located in Building 300, the RCCC administration building.

              The board will hear a recommendation from its personnel committee concerning the hiring of the college's next president.

              The board has conducted an extensive search process since late 2007 to select and hire RCCC's third president. The college's second president, Richard L. Brownell, retired May 31 after leading RCCC for more than 30 years.

              Long time RCCC senior administrator Jarrett (Jerry) Chandler Jr., is currently serving as interim president and will do so until the new president begins work.

             Media representatives are invited to attend and cover the board meeting. RCCC's North Campus is located at Jake Alexander Blvd., and I-85 in Salisbury.

           Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is a comprehensive, community-based institution of higher learning, serving the citizens of Rowan and Cabarrus Counties. RCCC offers approximately 40 programs of study in business, health and human services and engineering technologies at multiple campus locations. RCCC annually provides more than 2,000 course offerings, serving an enrollment of approximately 20,000 adult students. RCCC programs include an associate degree in arts and sciences, an associate degree in applied science, and diploma and certificate programs focusing on workforce training, continuing education and basic skills education.

           In addition, RCCC provides the education and job-training programs needed to meet many of the workforce demands of the North Carolina Research Campus, under construction in Kannapolis, N.C.
