Radiography Grads Perform Well
On Certification Exam

SALISBURY, N.C. — Recent graduates of the radiography program at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College achieved a 100-percent pass rate on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination.

Ten students graduated from RCCC's radiography program in May, and all 10 have passed the ARRT certification exam. ARRT certification allows one to perform medical imaging routines, including surgery, trauma, and fluorographic exams. ARRT certification also provides a pathway to advanced certifications such as cardiovascular angiography, CT, MRI, PET, SPECT, sonography, cardiovascular angiography, mammography, bone densitromity, and quality management.

Earning AART certification are Pamela Hession of Mooresville, Tanya Holler of Mooresville, Kristin Honeycutt of Salisbury, Tracey Jones of Kannapolis, Tamara Kepley of Salisbury, Brandi McIntyre of Rockwell, Marie Phillips of Salisbury, Michelle Russell of Kannapolis, Andree Sloan of Charlotte, and Tana Wilhelm of Cleveland.

RCCC's two-year radiography program prepares students to be radiographers, skilled health care professionals who use radiation and highly technical medical equipment to produce images of the human body.

Program course work includes clinical rotations at area health care facilities, radiographic exposure, image processing, radiographic procedures, physics, pathology, patient care and management, radiation protection, quality assurance, anatomy and physiology, and radiobiology. Graduates are employed in hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices, medical laboratories, government agencies and in industry positions.
