RCCC Pharmacy Technician Course Starts August 19 |

SALISBURY, N.C. — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will offer a pharmacy technician training course starting Aug. 19 and running through Dec. 16. The class will meet 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday evenings, on RCCC's North Campus, in Salisbury, building 100, room 100. There is a registration fee of $65, with text books costing approximately $150. Students must have a high school diploma or GED and complete a career readiness assessment at the college. Prospective students are encouraged to schedule the career readiness assessment no later than Aug. 4 by calling 704-216-7212. The course trains students to work as assistants to a licensed pharmacist in both retail and hospital settings. Students learn pharmaceutical and medical terminology, abbreviations and symbols used in prescribing, dispensing and charting of medications, a working knowledge of the drug trade and generic names, as well as strengths, dosages, dosage forms and methods of administration.
