RCCC Inducts Harrisburg Student |

CONCORD, N.C. — Makeda Tesemma, a Rowan-Cabarrus Community College student from Harrisburg, will be inducted in college's chapter of the Psi Beta National Honor Society in Psychology. Tesemma will join Psi Beta at an induction ceremony, scheduled for 5 p.m., Oct. 28, at RCCC's South Campus. The mission of the Psi Beta Honor Society is to enhance the professional development of psychology students in two-year colleges through the promotion and recognition of excellence in scholarship, leadership, research and community service. Founded in 1981, Psi Beta has chapters at more than 170 accredited two-year colleges. RCCC psychology instructor Troy Schiedenhelm, Ed.D., serves as the chapter's faculty advisor. To join, a student must have completed at least 12 semester hours, achieving a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and have at least a B average in one or more psychology courses. RCCC offers a number of psychology courses, including applied, abnormal, interpersonal, forensic, social, personality, life span development, general psychology and the psychology of aging. Students wanting to pursue a four-year degree in psychology can start their studies at RCCC through the college's associate in arts degree program. |
