RCCC Receives More Than
$1 Million in Grants

 

                 SALISBURY, N.C. — During its 2008-2009 fiscal year, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College received more than $1 million in grant funding from public and private organizations.

                  From July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009, RCCC received 18 grant awards totaling $1.42 million. Funded projects included scholarships for students with financial need, an aseptic bioprocessing suite in RCCC's building under construction at the North Carolina Research Campus, a program to assist persons adversely affected by changes in the tobacco industry, safety equipment for its firefighting programs, high-tech machining equipment, and a program to help students quit smoking.

                  The funding agencies include Duke Energy, Philip Morris USA, the Margaret C. Woodson Foundation, the Blanche and Julian Roberts on Family Foundation, the Ketner Foundation, the North Carolina Health and Wellness Trust Fund, and the North Carolina Community College System. Approximately 43 faculty and staff members worked on grant-writing projects during the year.

                  Since RCCC created an office of grants development in 2005, the college has received 73 grant awards of more than $4.74 million.
