Cisco Certification Classes
Start Aug. 17 at RCCC

SALISBURY, N.C. — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC) has a limited number of seats available in its 2009 fall semester Cisco certification evening classes. Prospective students are encouraged to register soon. The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is one of the most-sought-after certifications in the computer network and security industry.

RCCC's Cisco certification program, part of the college's certified Cisco Academy, meets all Cisco requirements and prepares students to take the CCNA examination. Students who complete the program also can earn a Cisco Track Certificate in networking.

The 12-credit-hour Cisco certification program includes four classes, two of which are being offered during RCCC's upcoming fall semester. RCCC is offering the Cisco classes in a hybrid format, which combines on-line learning with face-to-face, in-class instruction. Class instructors will deliver a large amount of the course content via the Internet, with a limited number of required on-campus meetings. In-class instruction will take place at RCCC's Cabarrus Business & Technology Center in Concord.

The first Cisco class (CCNA 1 Networking Basics) starts Aug. 17 and runs through mid October. The second course (CCNA 2 Routing Basics) begins Oct. 19 and runs through mid December.

Completion of the Cisco certification program also provides a foundation for students who want to pursue a diploma or associate degree in networking technologies or information systems security.

RCCC offers state-of-the-art equipment in the classroom, coupled with remote access capability, through which students can complete lab work and class assignments from home. In class, students will get hands-on experience making cables, configuring routers and switches, building networks and working with wireless components.

For more information about Cisco certification classes, and to schedule a tour of the RCCC Cisco Academy, contact instructors John Brand at 704-216-3751 or Ruth Parker at 704-216-3787.

RCCC's fall semester registration runs through July 31. The college will hold on-campus late registration Aug. 11 on the North Campus, from 2 to 6 p.m., and Aug. 12 at the South Campus, 2 to 6 p.m.

New students must apply to be enrolled. Every prospective student must complete an application and return it to the RCCC admissions office, allowing two business days for processing. New students can apply on-line or in person at RCCC's North and South campus. Fall semester classes begin Aug. 17.

RCCC's North Campus is located at I-85 and Jake Alexander Blvd., in Salisbury. The RCCC South Campus is at 1531Trinity Church Rd., just off N.C. 73 and I-85 at exit 55, in Concord. The Cabarrus Business & Technology Center is located at 660 Concord Parkway North, in Concord.
