Small Business Center Offers
Start-Up, Accounting Classes

 

              CONCORD, N.C. — The Small Business Center (SBC) at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is offering courses for persons planning to start a small business and small business owners who want to learn more about basic accounting.

              The SBC will offer the REAL course, which provides step-by-step instructions on starting a small business in Cabarrus and Rowan counties. The 10-session course takes the entrepreneur from business idea to written business plan. The REAL class will meet 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursdays, Oct. 6 through Nov. 5, at RCCC's Cabarrus Business & Technology Center, in Concord. The course fee is $120.

              The SBC will offer two classes of "Basic Accounting for Small Businesses." The first class will meet 6 to 9 p.m., Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, at the Cabarrus Business & Technology Center. The second class will meet 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Nov. 3-17, also at the Business & Technology Center. The course fee is $65.

              Also, the SBC will offer two classes of "QuickBooks Pro 2009 Level I." The course will teach students how to chart accounts, receive payments, pay bills, track cash sales, and more. The first class will meet 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 8 through Nov. 5. The second class will meet 6 to 9 p.m., Dec. 1-9. The course fee is $79. Both classes will meet at the Business & Technology Center.

The Small Business Center at RCCC is a community-based provider of education, training, counseling, information and referral, assisting entrepreneurs with business ideas and existing small business ventures.

              SBC seminars cover a broad range of small business topics, including business start ups, business financing, marketing, internet business, business growth and development, taxes, recordkeeping and customer service.
