RCCC Offers Short-Term Computer,
Medical Office, Other Classes

 

                SALISBURY, N.C. — The Human Resources Development (HRD) Program at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will offer multiple, short-term computer, medical office skills and financial awareness classes during the first half of 2010.

                  Class fees are $65 and up; however, individuals who are unemployed may qualify for a tuition waiver. Classes are offered at multiple sites, including RCCC's North Campus, Goodwill Industries and Career Connections in Salisbury, RCCC's South Campus and Cabarrus Business & Technology Center in Concord, and the Cloverleaf Plaza in Kannapolis.

                  To register or receive a complete class listing of classes, call RCCC's Continuing Education Department at 704-216-3545. Class sizes are limited, and reservations will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. The class schedule includes:

    • Introduction to Computers — classes beginning every month, January through May;
    • Computer Empowerment — classes beginning every month, January through May;
    • Keyboarding Lab — classes beginning in January and March;
    • Medical Terminology — classes beginning in classes beginning every month, January through April;
    • Medical Office Skills — classes beginning every month, January through April;
    • Making Cents — Financial Awareness — classes beginning every month, January through May; and
    • Work Certified — Work Readiness Certification — classes beginning every month, January through May.

                 The HRD Program at RCCC provides short-term, pre-employment training and counseling designed for unemployed and under-employed adults. HRD courses include a variety of classes designed to assist adult learners conduct job searches, build skills needed for employment, explore career options, and learn basic computer skills, including those needed for computerized job searches.
