Thank you for taking a moment to read the
Rowan-Cabarrus Community College for 2007-2010. This
plan clearly communicates RCCC’s strategic goals for the
next three years as we endeavor to serve the citizens, industry
and businesses of Rowan and Cabarrus counties.
This plan will guide the growth of our multi-campus institution,
help us set budget priorities, and support us as the foundation of our institutional
effectiveness program.
There is no inevitable future waiting to happen. By
involving people in a comprehensive process of discerning future trends already
evident in the present, a collaborative energy is created that frames a strategic
direction toward a preferred future. The process of developing this plan
involved both the comprehensive internal collaboration of faculty and staff,
as well as external focus groups of stakeholders. By re-examining the
mission of the
college within a framework of rapid technological and economic
change, we developed this strategic three-year plan to guide the college into
the future.
The 2007-2010
Strategic Plan is the latest outcome of a
comprehensive strategic process that has been ongoing for nearly three decades.
Throughout the years, strategic vision became reality by creating partnerships
with political and business leaders. That strategic process transformed
a small, one-county technical institute into a large, comprehensive community
college – the first multi-campus, two-county college in North Carolina. Strategic
partnerships with businesses and industries, school systems, other colleges,
chambers of commerce, and economic development commissions promoted economic
growth and supported a continuing expansion of college facilities to meet burgeoning
regional demands. College leaders, by strategically collaborating with business
leaders, forecast workforce development needs in the region to serve as a basis
for our program planning.
The strategic planning process has become more complex and
comprehensive as it has evolved. The process now includes the grassroots
collaboration of more than 300 people, working in committees at all levels
of the college. In early 2006, the college appointed a Strategic Planning
Committee and charged it with drafting a three-year Strategic Plan that integrated
the work of all supplementary institutional committees and institutional effectiveness
activities throughout the college. This comprehensive and collaborative process
produced the Rowan-Cabarrus Community
College Strategic Plan for 2007-2010.
Thank you for your support
of RCCC, as we carry out our mission of workforce
development and providing diverse opportunities
for higher learning. |
