Which test do I need to complete?

Placement testing is generally required of all students entering a curriculum program at RCCC.  The tests assess your skills in the fundamentals of reading, writing, mathematics, and computer skills.  Your scores are used by your advisor to place you appropriately into courses that enable you to succeed.

You will be required to present a picture ID at your test session!

At this time, you need to schedule yourself for both of the following:

  bullet COMPASS

This is our primary assessment of English grammar, reading comprehension, and mathematics skills – the building blocks of education.  It is a computerized program and is untimed.

  bullet

CSPT – Computer Skills Placement Test

Basic computer skills have become important in almost all fields of study.

If you want to take an Internet-based course, in addition to COMPASS and the CSPT, you need to also schedule yourself for:

  bullet

TPE – Technical Proficiency Exam

Required for entry to an Internet-based course.
Students wishing to retest should contact Student Services for available dates.  Please do not make an additional test reservation for a retest.  Contact Student Services.
