ASSET
Test |
| |
| General Information: |
The ASSET program is a series of short placement tests developed by ACT that let you and RCCC work together to help you succeed in your educational program. ASSET helps you identify your strengths as well as the knowledge and skills you will need in order to succeed in specified subject areas. ASSET also helps RCCC use this information to guide you toward classes that strengthen and build logically upon your current knowledge and skills.
All students applying for a program at RCCC are required to
take a placement test. The only exemptions that may apply are for students who have already attended college or for students who want only an individual class or two.
Contact the RCCC for more information.

How does ASSET work? |
The ASSET is not used like a traditional test battery. There is generally no "passing score." Rather, ASSET scores indicate areas in which you are strong and areas you may need help with. Thus, ASSET can identify problems in major subject areas before they disrupt your educational progress, giving you the opportunity to prepare more effectively for needed courses. |
Are the ASSET tests timed? |
Yes, each of the parts is 25 minutes long. |
What if I fail ASSET? |
You cannot fail ASSET! It is not that kind of test. ASSET is a course placement program. Your scores will indicate where your strengths and needs lie in relation to courses required in your program. |
May I re-test on ASSET? |
Yes, limited re-testing is allowed in specific re-test sessions. Student Services maintains re-test schedule information. |
What kinds of questions are on the ASSET tests? |
| |
The ASSET tests use a multiple-choice format. The following table gives the number of items and the amount of time allowed for each test. |
