Get a good night's rest and eat something prior to the session.  Food and drinks are not permitted in the session.

Arrive at least 5 minutes early so that you will be relaxed when the session begins.

Enter the session with a positive attitude.  Remember, you cannot fail.

Take your time and do not rush.  Each of the individual assessments is not timed.
bullet
If you are not comfortable using a computer mouse, you may choose to reivew the mouse instructions and practice prior to the start of the assessment.

Read the directions for each section carefully.  If you are not clear on the directions, re-read them or ask the testing coordinator for assistance.

Read each question carefully to make sure you understand what it's asking.

Try and answer the question in your head before choosing an answer.

If you are not sure of an answer, eliminate as many choices as you can.
bullet
On the English and Mathematics portions of the assessment, put your answers back into the question to see if your answer makes sense/works.

On the Reading Comprehension portion, read the passage as many times as you need.

You will be provided a calculator (Texas Instruments TS-30 Xa calculator) and will be able to access one on the computer for the Mathematics portion of assessment:  Numerical Skills / Pre-Algebra Assessment and Algebra Placement test.  Scrap paper and pencil will also be provided.

You will not be able to go back to previous questions, so make sure you are satisfied with the answers you choose before moving on to the next question/section.
